This guide outlines our recommended process for testing your Appraisd account configuration pre-launch

This guide outlines our recommended process for testing your Appraisd account configuration pre-launch. It will vary depending on the features you have enabled and your custom configuration but it will provide you with the foundation to test your process. We will help you customise this testing plan to reflect your process and settings.

We recommend that you conduct this testing in pairs to allow you to replicate the employee-manager relationship in Appraisd. If you are using second managers and/or sign-offs in your review process you may want to test in groups of 3 or 4. You can also use our ‘view as’ tool if you need to play both roles but we find it’s easier to understand if you are able to do it in pairs.

Objectives

Employee: Adding objectives for yourself

  1. Navigate to any of the Objective tabs (your objectives may be referred to by an alternate name) and add an objective for yourself in draft
  2. Wait for your manager to confirm the objective (optional step)
  3. Add a progress update and change the status of an objective

Manager: Confirming objectives for your team members

  1. Navigate to the profile of one of your reports via your Team tab
  2. Open a draft objective and confirm it
  3. Add a progress update and change the status of an objective
  4. Try changing a confirmed objective
  5. Mark an objective as finished

Check-ins

Employee: Starting a check-in with your manager

  1. Employees can set up check-ins from their dashboard at any time with their manager. Try setting one up.
  2. Add comments and share them with your manager.

Manager: Starting a check-in with your team member

  1. You will receive a notification telling you your team member has started a check-in with you and shared their comments. Have a read and add some of your own.
  2. Close the check-in.
  3. Mangers can also set up check-ins with their team members at any time from their Team tab. Try setting one up with one of your direct reports.

Reviews

You will need to have a performance review set-up for yourself in order to complete this test. This example is using our standard 3-stage workflow (self-assessment – manager review – closed).

Employee: Completing your Performance Review

  1. Complete a self-assessment for your review.
  2. If employees can invite colleagues to give feedback on your account, invite Vicky Adams to give you feedback.
  3. Submit your comments to your manager via the blue ‘Progress’ button.

Managers: Completing your team member’s Performance Review

  1. You will receive a notification telling you your team member has submitted their self-assessment. Review your team member’s self-assessment and add your comments.
  2. Invite John Parker to give feedback on your team member.
  3. Try sharing your comments with your team member (without closing the review). If you’re using second managers/second sign-offs, you will have the option to share your responses with them and keep them hidden from your team member until you close the review.
  4. Close the review.

If you’re using an alternative workflow for your reviews, you may have further stages in this process prior to closing. For example, it could involve sending the review back to your team member for approval or sending the review onto a sign-off for final comments.

Continuous feedback

These tests are for our continuous feedback features. If you’re solely using 360 review feedback, you will need to have a performance review set up to request feedback and follow the steps above.

Employee and manager: Giving instant feedback

  1. Give some instant feedback to your testing partner.
  2. Respond to some instant feedback you’ve been given by your testing partner.

Employee and manager: Requesting feedback

  1. Request feedback using the templates provided.
  2. Invite your testing partner to give you feedback.
  3. Respond to the feedback invite that has been sent to you by your partner.
  4. Archive the form when you have received the feedback.
